KATHUA: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kathua today observed Constitution Day with a solemn and informative programme held under the chairmanship of, Principal District & Sessions Judge and Chairman, DLSA Kathua, Jatinder Singh Jamwal. The event commenced with the reading of the Preamble of the Constitution of India led by the Chairman.
On the occasion, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua, Ajay Kumar, President Bar Association Kathua, Y.C. Katoch; Chief LADC Kathua, Arvind Kumar; Ms. Puneet Kumari and student representative addressed the gathering.
The programme witnessed participation of all Judicial Officers posted at District Headquarters Kathua, members of the Bar Association, Legal Aid Defence Counsels, panel lawyers, court staff, Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of DLSA Kathua and around 40 students from Government Degree College Kathua accompanied by two faculty members.
The speakers elaborated on the constitutional goals enshrined in the Preamble, the role and functioning of the Constituent Assembly, as well as the key features of the Constitution with emphasis on fundamental rights and fundamental duties. Discussions also centred on challenges in realising the constitutional objectives in contemporary society. To mark the occasion, the Bar Association Kathua presented a framed copy of the Preamble of the Constitution of India to the Chairman, DLSA Kathua.
