POONCH: A three day farmers’ tour- exposure visit was today flagged off by Chief Agriculture Officer, Jograj Singh Slathia to Kashmir. The farmers’ tour has been organised under centrally sponsored scheme -SAME scheme (Sub Misison of Agriculture Extension) under ATMA. The group of 25 farmers drawn from different areas of Poonch district would be imparted technical training at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Shopian.
Participants would be shown farm demonstrations, improved crop variety trials and on field experiments by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Farmers would also interact with the KVK Scientists and extension staff to gain knowledge about organic farming, eco friendly pest control, water efficient techniques, climate resilient cropping practices suitable for hill and mountainous regions.
District Agriculture officer (INPUTS) Sanjeev Mehta, District level Subject Matter Specialists, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Poonch, Sub-Divisional Subject Matter Specialists and other field functionaries were present at the flag off ceremony.
