• DC flags off student rally, Underscores importance of Constitutional awareness

KATHUA: The National Constitution Day was observed with great enthusiasm across District Kathua. A series of events were organised to reaffirm the importance of the Indian Constitution and its guiding principles.

The main function was held at Government Higher Secondary School Boys Kathua, where student speakers highlighted various facets of the Constitution, its evolution, and its significance in shaping the nation. The event also featured a mass reading of the Preamble, in which students and staff participated with patriotic zeal.

Later, a mass student rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma from GHSS Boys Kathua which culminated at the Sports Stadium Kathua. Speaking on the occasion, the DC encouraged students to maintain discipline in their daily lives, prepare a structured timetable, participate actively in co-curricular activities and stay away from bad company and drug abuse.

At the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, Kathua, DC Kathua alongwith officers and staff joined the nationwide observance through the live streaming of the Constitution Day programme held at the Convention Centre. The Lieutenant Governor of J&K led the reading of the Preamble, followed by the pledge-taking ceremony. A documentary on the Constitution was telecast during the event and the address of the Governor was also streamed live, emphasizing the need to uphold constitutional values in governance and civic life.

Government offices, educational institutions and various establishments across District Kathua also observed Constitution Day by conducting Preamble reading ceremonies and administering pledges to uphold the sanctity and spirit of the Constitution.
