SRINAGAR: Janta Dal (United) Party President G.M. Shaheen has voiced serious concern over the poor electricity service, mismanagement, and frequent outages that the people of Jammu & Kashmir are facing during the peak of winter. He said that low-voltage supply, unplanned cuts, and erratic power schedules have made life extremely difficult for citizens, particularly the poor, elderly, and children who are suffering the most in the biting cold.
Shaheen said that despite repeated assurances, the ground situation remains unchanged. The public is feeling helpless due to the lack of timely action, accountability, and proper coordination from the concerned departments. He appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to urgently intervene and ensure reliable, uninterrupted electricity supply across the region.
Highlighting that electricity is a basic necessity in winter months, Shaheen stressed that the administration must act swiftly to safeguard the well-being and safety of the people.
Appeal for Kissan Loan Waiver: Alongside the power crisis, Shaheen also drew attention to the growing distress among farmers. He appealed to the Government of India to waive Kissan loans for farmers in Jammu & Kashmir, stating that the farming community is facing multiple hardships, unstable conditions, and financial pressure that require immediate relief.
Shaheen emphasized that both issues — power crisis and farmers’ economic struggles — reflect the urgent need for strong administrative response and compassionate governance.
