POONCH: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, MY Bharat Poonch- under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the District Administration Poonch, organised the Sardar@150 Unity March – District Level Padyatra today. The Department of Youth Services and Sports, along with its players and officials, also participated in the grand event.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik flagged off the Padyatra  from Children’s Park. He appreciated the initiative for strengthening community spirit and promoting national integration. More than 500 individuals, including officials, youth, students and civil society members enthusiastically joined the Padyatra. Slogans promoting national unity echoed throughout the route. The participants carried the National Flags, symbolising togetherness, pride and the spirit of harmony.

The Padyatra culminated at the Sports Stadium, marking a symbolic confluence of unity and national pride at the iconic venue. Youth participants presented patriotic cultural performances, including songs, adding vibrancy to the event and celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage. To promote the spirit of Swadeshi and entrepreneurship, stalls were put up by departments of Handloom & Handicrafts, AYUSH, Agriculture, Employment, J&K Bank and Horticulture, attracting active engagement from visitors and participants.

At the end, the participants took the Atmanirbhar Bharat, Unity and Nasha Mukt Bharat pledges, reaffirming their commitment to building a progressive, united and drug-free society. Among others present at the event included Additional Superintendent of Police Mohan Lal; ACD Shakeel Malik; SE PWD K. K. Khatri; Prof. Shamin Bandey; Cricket Coach Pervaiz Malik Afridi and Deputy Director MY Bharat Nitin Hangloo, along with other district officers. They interacted with the participants and encouraged the youth to uphold the values of unity, discipline and patriotism.

The Deputy Director MY Bharat presented the formal Vote of Thanks and expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, officials, volunteers and participants for making the event a grand success.
