• Stresses prioritizing construction of OHTs, Pipe Network laying across six towns

KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today reviewed the implementation of AMRUT 2.0 Water Supply Schemes across six towns of the district, with special focus on accelerating key infrastructure works.

The DC was informed that under AMRUT 2.0, Kathua district is implementing a comprehensive package of works across six towns, including construction of 14 Tubewells, 14 Over Head Tanks (OHTs), 7 Sump Tanks/RSFPs and extensive pipe networks, benefiting a total of 22,930 planned households. Town-wise, the schemes ought to augment infrastructure in Kathua, Nagri, Lakhanpur, Hiranagar, Basohli and Billawar, with each town receiving a combination of new Twells, OHTs and distribution systems to strengthen urban water supply.

The Deputy Commissioner directed XEN PHE to prioritise construction of Over Head Tanks (OHTs), terming these crucial for stabilising the upcoming distribution network. He further instructed for immediate start of pipe network execution to ensure timely coverage of targeted households.

The DC called for seamless coordination among stakeholder departments for utility shifting and clearance of field-level issues to avoid delays in the execution. He also emphasised adhering to timelines and quality standards to ensure early commissioning of the schemes for the benefit of urban residents.

Among others the meeting was attended by ADDC Surinder Mohan Sharma; CPO Ranjit Thakur; GM DIC Mushtaq Chaudhary; XEN PHE G L Gupta; XEN PDD Surinder Bhagat; CEO MC Amit Sharma and other concerned officers.
