JAMMU: The 9 JK Girls Battalion of PSPS Government College for Women Gandhinagar on Sunday celebrated 78th NCC Day in the College premises. Param Vir Chakra Awardee, Honourary Capt. Bana Singh, PVC was the chief guest while commanding officer 9 JK Girls Bn, Colonel Sharad Sharma was the guest of honour . As many as 70 NCC cadets and 10 ex-cadets of 9 JK GIRLS BN attended the programme.
The program started with the bouquet presentation to the chief guest by Commanding officer of 9 JK Girls Bn and Guest of honour Col Sharad Sharma by the ANO as a token of gratitude. An impressive cultural program featuring a Patriotic solo song by Cdt Rohini, solo dance by Cdt Devanshi and speech by Cdt Neha Rana enthralled the audience.
Ex Cadet Sana Chouhan shared her experience with the cadets and the chief guest, narrating how NCC transformed her life. A short video featuring the glimpses of a day prior visit to NCC Day by 6 NCC Cadets to the homes of Veer Naris at various places in Jammu including the residences of Veera Jasrotia mother of Major Ajay Jasrotia SM; Veer Nari Baljeet Kour (wife) and Veer Nari Kuldeep Kour (mother) of Saheed L/NK Devinder Singh and Veer Nari Kamaljeet Kour mother of Shaheed Sepoy Balwinder Singh.
The winners of Poster Making, Essay Writing and Debate Competitions conducted during Vande Mataram week were also felicitated on the occasion by the Chief Guest. In his address, the Chief Guest Honourary Captain Bana Singh, PVC urged the cadets to be always ready for the country. The commanding officer 9 JK Girls Bn, Col Sharad Sharma applauded the cadets for their contribution in unit activities. He urged the cadets to always keep the spirit high and continue doing the good work. He congratulated the ANO for the successful conduct of the program.
The program ended with the piping ceremony of ANO Shivani Sharma, who has been promoted to rank of Major, becoming the first senior wing Associate NCC officer of JK&L Dte to be honored with the rank after putting 17 yrs of service in NCC. The formal Vote of thanks was presented by SUO Aakruti and the program was compared by Cdt Rohini and Cdt Akanksha.
