SHOPIAN: The District-Level NCORD Committee Meeting was today convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta here at Mini-Secretariat to review the measures being taken to curb drug and substance abuse and break the chain of narcotics in the district.
During the meeting, The DC took department-wise review of enforcement actions, counselling interventions, awareness programmes and monitoring mechanisms adopted by all concerned departments and stressed the need for strong inter-departmental coordination, and intensified action against drug peddlers. The meeting also discussed the issues of enforcement and inspection of drug stores, coaching institutes, Surveillance in Hot spot areas, IEC Campaign in drug abuse.
The DC also instructed concerned to strengthen surveillance in vulnerable areas of hotspots and initiate strict action against persons involved in drug trade and persons having amassed property from proceeds of crime. SSP Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary; ADC Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; SDM Zainapora and other officers of the district were present in the meeting.
