GANDERBAL: In order to combat childhood Pneumonia, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today launched the Social Awareness and Actions to Neutralise Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS) campaign roll-out 2025-2026 in the district.

District Programme Officer ICDS, Bureeda Majid; Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal, Dr. B.A.Khan; District Health Officer and Block Medical Officers from all blocks along with the Head Bal Raksha Bharat were present on the occasion.

SAANS campaign is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to reduce childhood mortality. The programme began with an interaction with health teams and frontline workers who play a vital role in reaching families and children across the district.

At the outset, a brief presentation was made about the ways and means adopted under SAANS campaign to prevent childhood pneumonia through timely care, awareness, and community participation.

DC appreciated the efforts of health workers, highlighting that their dedication forms the backbone of such public health initiatives. Later the DC flagged-off the SAANS moving Vehicles for wider outreach and audience engagement at community level. ASHAs of the district will further engage with families and children with this versatile platform through localised Audio messages.
