SRINAGAR: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar in collaboration with Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today conducted an awareness programme on the implementation of Supreme Court Directives at SMC Srinagar under the chairmanship of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Srinagar and supervision of Tabassum Qadir Parray, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.

The programme aimed to educate the concerned stakeholders on the absolute prohibition of manual scavenging and sewer cleaning. During the session, the Panel Lawyer DLSA Srinagar highlighted the human working conditions, dignity of labour and the constitutional right to safe and healthy working conditions. She also emphasized the availability of free legal Aid and helplines for those affected or aware of any violation related to hazardous sanitation activities.

The programme witnessed the active participation of Sanitation workers, community members and civic volunteers who pledged collective responsibility towards ensuring safe sanitation practices and human dignity. DLSA Srinagar reiterated its commitment to spreading legal awareness and supporting affected individuals through rehabilitation and legal recourse mechanism.
