GANDERBAL: Department of Information Technology, Central University of Kashmir  under the mentorship of Vice Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, organized a programme on “Digital Wellness” to raise awareness about the psychological, social, and behavioural impacts of excessive digital usage. The event encouraged students to adopt balanced digital habits in today’s technology-driven world.

In his introductory remarks, Dr. Yash Paul, Coordinator of the Department highlighted the increasing concerns of digital dependency, reduced attention span, and the importance of responsible technology use among students.

The expert talk was delivered by Mr. Saurav Garg, Project Coordinator, Connect One Application, in which he explained the psychology behind digital platforms, the addictive design of notifications and infinite scrolling, and the effects of multitasking on mental performance. His session shed light on issues such as digital addiction, overstimulation, and “dopamine-driven engagement.” He shared practical tips for minimizing unnecessary screen time and cultivating healthier digital behaviour.

A meditation session was conducted by Mr. Reyazul Wani, Sr. Lecturer,  Deptt of School Education (Meditation and Spiritual Trainer), giving students an opportunity to experience mental calmness and relaxation. The session emphasized the importance of inner balance and mindfulness in countering the pressures of continuous digital engagement.

The event proved beneficial, motivating students to reflect on their digital habits and make mindful choices in their daily lives. Er. Afaq Alam Khan, Sr Asst Prof proposed the vote of thanks.
