JAMMU: The Jammu & Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party today observed Constitution Day of India in a programme organized by the BJP SC Morcha at the party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. J&K BJP Vice-President & DDC Chairperson Bharat Bhushan, MLA Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, and BJP SC Morcha President Dharminder Kumar, chiefly addressed the programme in the presence of senior leaders FC Bhagat, GR Bhagat, Rakesh Sangral, and other party functionaries.
Tributes were also paid to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution of India. Speaking on the occasion, Bharat Bhushan said that the true spirit of the Indian Constitution is being realized today under the stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that the values of equality, justice, and empowerment enshrined in the Constitution are finally reaching the most deprived sections of society after decades of neglect by previous regimes.
“For years, Congress invoked the Constitution only when it suited its political interests but never respected its essence. The Constitution was repeatedly amended for their own welfare, not for the welfare of the nation,” he said.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal strongly criticized the Congress at the national level and the NC and PDP in Jammu & Kashmir for deliberately preventing the implementation of the Constitution in the erstwhile state. He stressed that these parties stalled constitutional rights to protect their own dynastic rule and to exploit the resources of J&K for their families. They kept the people deprived for decades, he said.
Dr. Manyal added that the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 marked the beginning of a new era where every constitutional right now flows equally to the people of J&K.
Dharminder Kumar said that under PM Modi’s leadership, lakhs of people in Jammu & Kashmir, Scheduled Castes, women, refugees, Valmiki community members, OBCs, and other marginalized groups have finally received rights that were long denied to them. This is the first time that the Constitution drafted by Dr. Ambedkar is implemented in letter and spirit in J&K, he added.
