SRINAGAR: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, in collaboration with the J&K Legal Services Authority, today commemorated Constitution Day 2025 with patriotic fervour, reaffirming the nationâs collective commitment to constitutional values, justice and rule of law.
The event was graced by the presence of Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh & Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, along with Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul, Justice Sanjay Dhar, Justice Waseem Sadiq Nargal,. Justice Rajesh Sekhri and Justice Sanjay Parihar.
Also present were Shazia Tabassum, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, Khursheed-ul-Islam, Registrar Judicial, Tahir Majeed Shamsi, Deputy Solicitor General of India, Jahangir Ahmad Bakshi Joint registrar Judicial, Touseef Ahmad Magray Joint Registrar Inspection. Mir Sayeem Qayoom Munsiff, distinguished Senior Advocates, officers of the Registry, members of the Bar and staff of the High Court as well as the J&K Legal Services Authority.
The highlight of the event was the collective reading of the Preamble to the Constitution of India, solemnly led by Justice Sanjeev Kumar, symbolising a reaffirmation of the ideals of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity that form the soul of the Constitution.
In his remarks, Justice Sanjeev Kumar emphasized the transformative power of the Constitution and the significance of Preamble to the constitution. âThe Preamble captures the essence of the entire constitution and it is an occasion to read it out and enshrine the values that it embodies. We are a Secular, Democratic, Republic and Secularism is a word that needs to be understood in the context of the Constitution, not in the manner which people are interpretingâ Justice Kumar said.
