• AJKPC chief promises positive change, cautions ‘outsiders will betray trust of voters’

NAGROTA: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) President Anil Sharma, contesting as an Independent candidate from the Nagrota Assembly constituency in the upcoming by-election, formally launched his election campaign today, pledging to bring positive change in the region. Kicking off his campaign from Nagrota Block, Anil Sharma addressed an enthusiastic public gathering at Panchayat Khanpur, where he called upon the people of Nagrota especially the youth and women to exercise their right to vote decisively and responsibly in the forthcoming election.

Sharma, while addressing the gathering, explained his decision to contest as an Independent candidate, saying it stemmed from the disappointment of local voters over political parties fielding non-local candidates. “How can a non-local candidate truly represent and do justice with the people if he remains inaccessible to them?” he asked. “The people of Nagrota have long yearned for a local leader who is available to them round the clock, listens to their concerns, and works to find real solutions to their grievances.”

The AJKPC chief said his candidature reflects his commitment to bring genuine change in the constituency that, for years, has suffered neglect under successive governments and former legislators driven by political self-interest rather than public welfare.

He expressed deep concern over the rising unemployment, slow pace of development, and poor infrastructure in the area. “It is time for the people to demand accountability from those who have been repeatedly elected but have failed to deliver on their promises,” Sharma stated. “Nagrota deserves a leadership that listens to its people, understands their hardships, and works with sincerity to uplift every village and every individual,” he said.

The AJKPC chief emphasized that his campaign would focus on grassroots empowerment, transparency in governance, and inclusive development. He assured that, if elected, he would prioritize creating job opportunities for the youth, improving road connectivity, strengthening rural infrastructure, and ensuring equitable access to education and healthcare facilities.

“People have the power to change their destiny through the ballot. I appeal to all voters, particularly our energetic youth and strong women, to come forward and participate in this democratic process with conviction,” Sharma urged.

He reiterated his commitment to clean, issue-based politics, asserting that the upcoming election in Nagrota is not just about choosing a representative, but about reclaiming the people’s right to honest leadership and sustainable development.

The event was attended by local Panchayat representatives, prominent citizens, youth leaders, and supporters who expressed their full faith in Sharma’s vision for a new and progressive Nagrota.
