ANANTNAG: Police Station Kokernag foiled an attempt of impersonation after a naka party of Police Station Kokernag apprehended a suspicious individual during routine checking.
The individual, identified as Mohd Umer Mochi son of Mohd Jamal Mochi resident of Zalangam, was intercepted while carrying a bag. On noticing the police party, the suspect attempted to flee from the spot but was tactfully apprehended by the police personnel. During search of his bag, a police uniform bearing the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police was recovered. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was allegedly using the uniform to impersonate a senior police officer with an intent to deceive the general public.
In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 118/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kokernag, and investigation has been initiated. J&K Police assures the public that strict action shall be taken against those attempting to impersonate police/civil officers or exploit public trust. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and report any such suspicious activities to the nearest police station immediately.
