GANDERBAL: As part of the ongoing Police Martyrs Commemoration Week, Police in Ganderbal organised a Badminton Tournament at Gadoora Stadium, Ganderbal to pay rich tributes to the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty for safeguarding the nation and ensuring peace.
The event was chaired by SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad-JKPS, who inaugurated the tournament in presence of senior officers, police personnel, players, and a large gathering of local sports lovers.
A number of teams from across the district participated in the tournament, showcasing remarkable energy, team spirit, and sportsmanship. The matches witnessed enthusiastic participation and healthy competition among the players, symbolising unity, strength, and resilience-values deeply cherished by the Police force.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Ganderbal said that the event is a humble tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by the Police Martyrs. He emphasized that sports activities play a vital role in promoting physical fitness, discipline, and camaraderie among police personnel and the community.
He further added that such initiatives are aimed at strengthening the bond between police and the public while encouraging the youth to engage in positive, constructive pursuits. At the conclusion, distribution of trophies and medals among the winners (GDC Ganderbal) and runners-up (Physical College Gadoora) by Police and other dignitaries.
The participants and locals appreciated the efforts of police for organising such meaningful events during the Martyrs Commemoration Week, reinforcing the message that the sacrifices of martyrs will always be remembered and honoured.
Police reaffirmed its commitment to continue such initiatives that promote sports, peace, and public-police partnership while keeping alive the legacy of courage and sacrifice shown by the martyrs of J&K Police.
