RAMBAN: NCC cadets and students of the Government Degree College, Ramban, came together today to celebrate World Ocean Day 2026 to create awareness about the importance of keeping the oceans and marine life safe.

The event was organised under the overall supervision of the Principal, Prof Romesh Kumar Atri. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of pollution on the aquatic environment of the biosphere, especially its hazardous effects on the marine ecosystem.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal highlighted the importance of keeping surroundings clean and pollution-free to support all life forms in a natural environment free of hazardous substances. The students of the college, especially the NCC Unit under the guidance of Dr Rabinder Kumar, CTO, NCC, participated in a campus cleanliness drive and highlighted the importance of safeguarding the oceans to help the planet overcome the challenges posed by climate change and global environmental issues.

The event was attended by a large number of college faculty, NCC cadets and students from different semesters and streams of the college. The Principal of the College stressed the need for the gathering to make every effort in their day-to-day lives to keep surroundings clean and undertake eco-friendly practices to keep the Earth a better place for future generations.
