PULWAMA: As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness, counselling and sports activities were conducted across Pulwama district to promote a drug-free society and encourage community participation in the fight against substance abuse.
Awareness programmes were organised at Midoora Noorpora, Amirabad, Amlar, Donigund, Tokina, Talangam and Gudpora Aripal, where participants were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of collective efforts in preventing substance abuse. Various activities including awareness sessions, pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns and padyatras were conducted to highlight the message of a drug-free society and encourage public engagement.
Meanwhile, Self Help Group (SHG) members organised awareness and counselling sessions along with a padyatra at Arihal to spread awareness regarding drug abuse prevention and promote healthy lifestyles.
Furthermore, the Social Welfare Department also conducted awareness sessions, pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns and padyatras at Naina and Zaintrag as part of the ongoing campaign. While, the Education Department organised seminars, painting competitions and awareness sessions at various educational institutions across the district, highlighting the adverse effects of drug abuse and encouraging students to adopt healthy and responsible lifestyles.
Furthermore, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Pulwama, is conducting district-level competitions in Hockey, Table Tennis and Chess at Hockey Turf Pulwama and Indoor Stadium Rajpora under the NMBA campaign. Awareness programmes and yoga sessions were also organised at Central High School (CHS) Pulwama to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Meanwhile, Zone Awantipora hosted mega zonal-level girls' tournament in the disciplines of Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi at Sports Stadium Charligund, witnessing enthusiastic participation from young athletes. Zone Tral organised athletic meet featuring various track and field events for U-17 boys at Bajwani Tral under NMBA. Recreational activities and an awareness campaign were also conducted at Government Middle School (GMS) Tral Bala.
Similarly, Zone Tahab conducted yoga sessions and awareness drives at High School Naina in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department. Yoga sessions were also held at HSS Arihal and HS Dogripora Tahab. Participants across all events pledged to work collectively towards building a healthy, drug-free and progressive society.
