BARAMULLA: As part of its ongoing community outreach and youth engagement initiatives, Police in Baramulla facilitated an educational visit for 65 students along with their teachers from Sheikh-ul-Alam Public School, Dhobiwan, Tangmarg, to Police Station Kunzer.
The visit aimed to familiarize students with the functioning of the police department, promote awareness about public safety, and strengthen police-public relations. During the programme, students were briefed on the role and responsibilities of the police in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and serving the community.
The students were given a guided tour of various sections of the police station, including the Reporting Room, Duty Officer’s Office, Munshiyat, Investigation Room, Lock-up, SHO’s Office, CCTV Monitoring System, and the Online CCTNS Lab. Police officials explained the functioning of each section and highlighted various public services provided by the department.
Awareness sessions were also conducted on ERSS Helpline 112, Cyber Fraud Helpline 1930, SSP Baramulla’s Nasha Mukt Tip Line, prevention of drug abuse, child rights, online safety, traffic awareness, and personal safety measures. Demonstrations of police equipment, wireless communication systems, and emergency response mechanisms were also showcased.
The interactive session provided students with valuable insights into policing and encouraged greater community participation in maintaining peace, harmony, and public safety. A pledge ceremony was also held wherein students pledged to follow traffic rules, stay away from drugs, respect public property, and act as responsible citizens.
The programme concluded with refreshments for all participants. The students and teachers appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude to the officers and staff of Police Station Kunzer for the informative and engaging experience. J&K Police remains committed to fostering trust, cooperation, and positive engagement with the community, particularly the youth.
