KATHUA: The NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC), Marheen, under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anupama Gupta, on Friday took out a rally to promote the theme "No Crackers, Green and Clean Diwali". The idea was to encourage an eco-friendly Diwali celebration and spread awareness among local communities.
The rally was flagged off by the Principal of the college, who addressed the enthusiastic NSS volunteers, urging them to carry forward the message of a green and clean Diwali to their communities.
A large number of NSS volunteers participated in the rally, starting from the college premises and proceeding to the NSS-adopted village. Along the way, volunteers chanted slogans promoting a green and pollution-free Diwali, educating residents on the benefits of celebrating without crackers.
The rally concluded with the volunteers taking a pledge to spread this message throughout their communities. The event was coordinated by Dr. Arun Dev Singh, with support from faculty members Dr. Balbinder Singh, Prof. Anoop Sharma, Prof. Manu Saini, Prof. Diksha, Prof. Naresh, Prof. Suman, Dr. Meenu Sharma and others who contributed to the success of the rally.
