JAMMU: The Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation (SGWF) proudly launched the "Adopt a Tree" campaign on Raksha Bandhan, inspired by the visionary guidance of Sham Lal Sharma, Former Cabinet Minister J&K and Chief Patron of SGWF. This innovative campaign, which seeks to engage communities in environmental conservation, began with a symbolic ceremony where trees were adorned with Rakhis, reflecting the protective spirit of Raksha Bandhan.

The "Adopt a Tree" campaign encourages individuals, families, and communities to take an active role in preserving the environment by adopting and nurturing a tree. Each participant in the campaign is asked to select a tree, which they will be responsible for watering, caring for, and protecting as it grows. This initiative not only promotes environmental stewardship but also fosters a deep personal connection to nature.

The campaign was launched with a Rakhi-tying ceremony led by Dogar Nath, Office Secretary of SGWF, and supported by volunteers Daksh, Shri Kant, Vinayak, Madan Sharma, Garima Sharma, Pinki Devi, Anju Bala, and Shashi Devi. The act of tying Rakhis to trees symbolizes the pledge to protect and nurture the environment, much like the bond of protection celebrated during Raksha Bandhan.

In his public address, Er Rohit Sharma, General Secretary of SGWF, passionately urged the public to participate in the campaign, stating, "The 'Adopt a Tree' initiative is more than just a call to action—it's a movement that embodies our collective responsibility towards the environment. Each tree we adopt is a step towards a greener, healthier planet. I encourage everyone, from schoolchildren to elders, to take part in this noble cause. Together, we can make a significant difference."

Dr. Sonia Verma, Director of SGWF, emphasized the long-term vision of the campaign, stating, "Our goal is to create a culture of environmental responsibility where every individual feels personally connected to the well-being of our planet. 'Adopt a Tree' is not just about planting trees; it's about nurturing them to maturity and ensuring they thrive for generations to come."

Reeta Verma, National President of SGWF, added, "This campaign is a call to action for everyone to contribute to the fight against climate change. By adopting a tree, you're making a tangible commitment to improving our environment and leaving a legacy of green spaces for future generations."

With the ambitious target of adopting 25,000 trees, SGWF aims to significantly impact the region's green cover. The Foundation plans to involve schools, community groups, and local governments in the campaign to ensure widespread participation and success.

Under the leadership of Sham Lal Sharma, the "Adopt a Tree" campaign is positioned as a cornerstone of SGWF's broader mission to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living. The campaign is designed to be inclusive, with options for individuals and groups to participate at various levels, from planting and caring for trees to organizing community events around tree adoption.
