- Records 27% increase in Penalty realization, 39% increase in E Way Bills verification
UDHAMPUR: State Tax Department, Enforcement Wing Jammu North (Udhampur) has realized highest ever penalty of Rs 1.85 Crore and E Way Bill Verifications of 2.47 Lakh during the current FY 2024-25 after detecting 272 cases in contravention of Goods & Services Tax (GST) Act/Rules.
Regular enforcement activities being carried out based on inputs generated from data analytics and surprise inspections on the Goods/conveyance in transit under the close supervision of Deputy Commissioner Enforcement Jammu North (Udhampur) Anil Kumar Chandail to check/curb the violations especially in sensitive high tax prone commodities including Tobacco products, scrap goods, cement, granite/marble, TMT bars and electronic goods etc.
This significant achievement has been made possible due to the technical guidance of Commissioner State Taxes, J&K, P.K. Bhat and Addl. Commissioner State Taxes, Jammu, Namrita Dogra.
The major commodities on which penalty was realised during the current financial year includes, scrap goods, cement, granite/marble, TMT bars, tobacco products, electronic goods & furniture items for violations like movement of goods without EWay Bills, e-invoices, wrong declaration of tax rate, mismatch in quantity, use of fake GSTIN, etc.
Commissioner State Taxes appreciated the efforts of team Enforcement Udhampur for breaking the nexus of the scrap dealers especially between J&K and Punjab who were violating the provisions of the GSTAct and on underscoring the Department’s commitment to foster a culture of accountability and compliance to GST regulations. The enforcement teams consists of Inspectors, Sub Inspectors, Guards led by State Tax Officers (STOs) Babu Pardeep Kumar, Ayush Sharma and Sahida Akhtar
