JAMMU: The Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) successfully organized ICSSR Sponsored Two Day National Seminar on Sri Aurobindo’s Vision for Human Unity:A Bharatiya Model for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The seminar concluded with the blessings of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor.
In his inspiring address, he emphasized Sri Aurobindo’s timeless philosophy as a guiding light for global harmony, urging participants to embody the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.The event features insightful thoughts from distinguished academicians, administrators, policy experts, across the country to share their vision on Sri Aurobindo on Human Unity and its relevance in the contemporary times. Prof. Jain also shared that the seminar is a testament to the profound relevance of Sri Aurobindo’s vision of Human Unity: A Bharatiya Model for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, illuminating how his evolutionary spirituality and Bharatiya wisdom bridges spiritual evolution, cultural synthesis and national cohesion to realize the ideal of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
The event was honoured by the gracious presence of Prof. Priya M. Vaidya, Professor and Head, Dept. of Philosophy, Mumbai University, Mr. Vivek Gupta, IPS, IGP Railways, Jammu and Kashmir, Prof. Monika Sharma, Dean, School of Humanities, Cluster University of Jammu, where they shared their views on the key themes in various plenary sessions. The second day of the event features two plenary sessions covering insightful themes related to the seminar.
The sessions were graced by Prof. J. N. Baliya, Department of Educational Studies, CUJ, Dr. Sheojee Singh, Associate Professor, GCE, Chandigarh, Dr. Parveen Kumari, Head, Department of Hindi, GCW, Parade Jammu, Sh. Mohit Bansal, Director, Axtria Technologies, Ms. Anushree, Assistant Professor, Rishihood University as key panelists in the national seminar. The key plenary sessions highlighted the application of Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy and his vision to address the issues related to holistic human and sustainable development. Plenary sessions drew parallels between his teaching and modern education system, underscoring the need for value-based education to strengthen national fabric.
Prof. Baliya shared his insightful thoughts on experiential pedagogy and embodied consciousness—insights drawn from Sri Aurobindo’s profound teachings on integral yoga and the evolution of human consciousness. He highlighted how Aurobindo’s vision transforms education from rote learning to a lived, embodied practice, aligning perfectly with the Bharatiya model of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Other panelists also shared their views on the relevance of Sri Aurobindo’s vision from various perspectives like policy making, social, political and cultural aspects etc.
The event concluded with the valedictory session where Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Director DIQA, CUJ delivered her address on integrating quality assurance in education with Sri Aurobindo’s vision. She underscored the role of educational institutions in building a Bharatiya Education model for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, inspiring all to champion these ideals in their daily life. The session culminated in the valedictory address by Prof. Sampadananda Mishra, Director, CHS, Rishihood University, on the role of education and culture on fostering Sri Aurobindo’s vision of Human Unity.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Asit Mantry, Convenor and Head, where he expressed his gratitude for the successful completion of this insightful seminar.Participants expressed profound gratitude for the enriching deliberations, which sparked innovative ideas for applying Sri Aurobindo’s vision to contemporary global challenges. The event was also attended by Deans and Heads of various departments, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Aman, Dr. Ravi Vanguri, Dr. Mohan Galgotra, Dr. Yadram and other faculty members, scholars and students of the various departments.
