The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

SRINAGAR: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) today urged upon the UT Administration to address the issues pertaining to thousands of daily wagers and casual labourers in the UT on priority.

Peer Bilal, Senior DPAP leader, said the issue of more than 60 thousand daily wagers and casual labourers has been taking toll in the state and has not suffered these aggrieved works alone but also their families including children.

He added that the high power committee headed by then Chief Secretary has already laid down the comprehensive roadmap for the regularization of the daily wagers and that the administration instead of adopting confrontational attitude with the already perturbed daily wagers should work for the resolution of their issues on humanitarian grounds.

Peer Bilal said that it was ironic that these workers who are working tirelessly on meagre wages are even denied the remuneration for months. He appealed the UT Government to address the issue without further delay so that the daily wagers and casual workers engaged in various Government Departments could work earnestly for smooth functioning of the state machinery and also their families too, could heave a sigh of relief.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity.
