The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

AWANTIPORA: In a swift and decisive action, J&K Police in Awantipora have arrested an individual for impersonating as a person with close ties to police and other authorities thereby extorting money from the public.

The action was initiated following a complaint filed by Raiees Ahmad Yatoo, son of Bashir Ahmad Yatoo, resident of Pampore, stating therein that the accused Faizan Amin, son of Mohammad Amin, resident of Patal Bagh, Pampore was fraudulently posing as a well-connected individual within the police department and demanding money under various false pretexts. He allegedly targeted individuals by exploiting their fear of legal action to extort money.

The extent of his fraudulent activities became evident after multiple victims came forward with similar allegations of threats and coercion. Acting swiftly on the complaint, Police Station Pampore registered FIR No. 110/2025 under sections (319) 2 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Due to timely and efficient action by the police team of Police Station Pampore, led by SHO Police Station Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Shri R.P. Singh, the accused was promptly arrested.

J&K Police urges the general public to remain vigilant and not to fall prey to such fraudulent individuals. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately. Police reaffirm their commitment to act firmly against anti-social elements and uphold public safety and trust.
