KARGIL: In adherence to a long-standing tradition, the Alam-e-Hazrat Abbas Alamdar procession was observed with reverence and fervor in Kargil. Thousands of mourners from various villages gathered in Kargil town, passing through significant landmarks such as Fatima Chowk, Isna Ashriya Chowk, Khomenie Chowk, Lal Chowk, and Isna Ashriya Campus Kargil.
Under the banner of Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Ashriya Kargil (JUIAK) Ladakh and the guidance of JUIAK Ladakh volunteers, participants engaged in chest beating, chanting noha, performing Matam Zanjeer, and raising slogans.
The Procession started with the Procession of Religious Scholars who are studying in Najaf Ashraf Iraq, Qom and Mashad Muqaddas Iran who are on Tableegi Mission in Kargil and Scholars from different villages of Kargi along with President and Executive Members of JUIAK Ladakh. Various organizations set up Sabeel stalls to offer water and refreshments, expressing their devotion and support to the mourners.
The main sermon on the 9th of Muharram was delivered by President JUIAK Ladakh, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi. In his address, Sheikh Nazir highlighted the sacrifices and unwavering allegiance of Hazrat Abbas Alamdar, the brother of Imam Hussain. He urged the public to strictly follow the SOPs and protocols issued by the administration for the 10th of Muharram and expressed gratitude to the people of Kargil for their compliance during the Muharram observances.
He also prayed for global and regional peace, emphasizing the enduring memory of Imam Husain in the hearts of Muslims even after 14 centuries. Simultaneously, Al-Reza Health Care and Research Foundation (Health Wing JUAIK Ladakh) organized a blood donation and medical camp at the old taxi stand in Kargil.
The 9th of Muharram, a day marking the martyrdom of Hazrat Abbas Alamdar (AS), is a significant observance, honoring his bravery and sacrifice. Hazrat Abbas, who was martyred at the age of 32 in Karbala while attempting to bring water for Imam Hussain's companions, is remembered for his courage, patience, and unwavering loyalty.
The district administration ensured all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the processions, including health camps, ambulance services, Hygene and other essential facilities for the mourners.
