JAMMU: Sri Akal Takhat Jathedar Gaini Raghbir Singh Ji today visited Bhai Jagtar Singh's house at Digiana Ashram in Jammu. It may be important to recall here that after 33 years, SGPC appointed Bhai Jagtar Singh Jammu as Advisor/Coordinator for Jammu and Kashmir. In a significant move, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) of Sri Amritsar Sahib has appointed Bhai Jagtar Singh of Jammu as the Advisor/Coordinator of the Dharam Prachar Committee for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This decision, made after 33 years, highlights the ongoing issues faced by the Sikh minority in the region, which borders Punjab.
Bhai Jagtar Singh, a dedicated Kirtaniya serving the Sikh community for the past 24 years through Kirtan, has also been involved in various religious outreach and community service activities. Since 2017, he has been committed to the SGPC and Sri Akal Takht Sahib. His appointment was formalized at a ceremony held at the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat, attended by notable figures such as Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of SGPC, and several other committee members.
The Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir, especially at the Lakhanpur border and Kathua, welcomed Bhai Jagtar Singh with great enthusiasm. His role will focus on enhancing educational opportunities, medical facilities, and addressing drug issues in the region, in collaboration with the local administration and law enforcement agencies.
The appointment is seen as a significant honor for Bhai Jagtar Singh and the Sikh community of Jammu and Kashmir, recognizing their long-standing contributions and service. The community expressed their support and optimism for the positive changes that his leadership will bring.
