SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir spokesman Altaf Thakur on Monday came down heavily on Congress J&K President Tariq Hameed Karra and senior leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir for pasting posters of Rahul Gandhi on government vehicles, terming the act as a gross misuse of official property and a reflection of the Congress party’s frustration.
In a scathing statement, Thakur said that using government vehicles for political promotion is unethical and amounts to the misuse of public resources. “It is shameful that Congress leaders, who once held high offices, have stooped to using government assets for political publicity. This exposes their desperation and disregard for administrative norms,” he said.
Thakur urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to take serious note of the incident and initiate appropriate action against those responsible. “Government property belongs to the people, not to any political party. Such actions not only violate decorum but also set a wrong precedent,” he added.
The BJP spokesman said that while Congress is indulging in such publicity stunts, the BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to focus on public welfare, transparency, and development. “Congress has nothing to show to the people except poster politics. Their actions reveal their declining credibility and their struggle to stay relevant,” Thakur remarked.
