BANDIPORA: In order to strengthen the agricultural data collection mechanism, the District Administration Bandipora on Saturday organized a training programme on General Crop Estimation Survey (GCES) for revenue officials at the Mini Secretariat, Bandipora.
The training session was aimed at equipping the revenue officials with a thorough understanding of the methodology involved and use of mobile application devised for conducting crop cutting experiments including sampling techniques, plot selection, harvesting procedures, and weighing—essential components for accurate estimation of crop yields.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Bandipora, was present at the event, while as Naib Tehsildar conducted the training session and delivered a detailed presentation on GCES methodology and field-level protocols. Speaking on the occasion, ACR highlighted the importance of such trainings, stating that GCES plays a pivotal role in generating reliable and authentic crop yield data.
He said the training is designed to empower our field functionaries to contribute effectively towards accurate agricultural statistics, which are essential for evidence-based policy-making and strategic planning in the agriculture sector. ACR urged the officials to treat the crop estimation process with utmost seriousness and adopt standardized procedures during field operations.
The training also included a discussion session where participating officials shared field-level challenges and received clarifications on technical aspects of GCES implementation. Among others, the training programme was attended by Girdawars, patwaris and other field functionaries of revenue Department.
