• BJP has lost the trust and faith of people in J&K: Rattan Lal Gupta

CHATROO (KISHTWAR): National Conference-led Government headed by Omar Abdullah Hon’ble Chief Minister J&K has accelerated inclusive development across all sectors of Jammu and Kashmir, with special emphasis on rural, remote and far-flung areas, said  Surinder Choudhary, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, while addressing a public meeting at Chatroo in Inderwal Assembly Constituency chaired by Tanveer Ahmad Kichloo District President Kishtwar.

Choudhary said that since the Omar Abdullah-led Government assumed office, development schemes and projects have gained momentum across Jammu and Kashmir. According to him, people in rural and far-flung areas are increasingly receiving public facilities and development works closer to their doorsteps.

Choudhary further said the Government is committed to taking development to every region and section of society and bringing a new momentum in sectors including tourism, roads, Jal Shakti, health, education and other essential services, with the objective of creating better opportunities and a stronger future for the coming generations.

Earlier, Sh. Pyare Lal Sharma, Hon’ble MLA Inderwal, presented his two-year report card before the people of Inderwal. He highlighted about two dozen development works relating to roads, Jal Shakti, health and education, besides about a dozen works in the pipeline and a major tunnel project. He said these projects are generating employment and livelihood opportunities for thousands of local youth and expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for giving impetus to development in the area.

Sharma appreciated the Omar Abdullah-led Government for pursuing inclusive development and for focusing attention on rural and far-flung areas. He said that development reached every section of society and every region of J&K without discrimination.

Addressing the public meeting, Rattan Lal Gupta, Adv., Provincial President, J&K National Conference, Jammu, said that the BJP had, according to him, failed to retain the trust of the people of Jammu and Kashmir because several commitments made to the people remain unfulfilled. He particularly referred to the commitment regarding restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had made commitments regarding Restoration of Statehood in Parliament and on other public platforms. He said that the continued delay has disappointed sections of the people who expected the commitment to be fulfilled.

Gupta further said that the elected Government has faced institutional challenges arising from the existing arrangement involving the elected Council of Ministers and the Lieutenant Governor's administration. In his view, such a situation has affected the pace of decision-making and development, and he called for greater institutional coordination in the larger public interest. He reiterated that the National Conference would continue to raise issues concerning development, employment, infrastructure, public services, Statehood and the socio-economic welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Among others who were present in the meeting included: Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell, Rakesh Singh Raka Vice President Central Zone and other functionaries of Inderwal Assembly Constituency.
