KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized the Valedictory Ceremony of the two-week Student Induction Programme–2026 (SIP) at the Matrika Auditorium, marking the successful culmination of an enriching induction journey for the newly admitted undergraduate studentsThe two-week programme was designed to help students transition smoothly into university life and familiarize them with the academic environment, campus culture, values and diverse opportunities at SMVDU.
The programme was meticulously planned and conducted by a dedicated team of faculty members under the chairmanship of Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean Academic Affairs and Convener, SIP–2026, with a focus on academic orientation, teamwork, creativity, confidence, interpersonal development and holistic growth.
The valedictory ceremony brought together newly admitted students, Deans, Heads of Schools, faculty members, organizing committee members and distinguished guests. The programme commenced with the National Song, followed by the National Anthem, and a ceremonial welcome to the dignitaries. Potted plants were presented to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour as a symbol of growth, sustainability and new beginnings.
Dr. Shafaq Rasool, Associate Dean, Academic Affairs (Non-Engineering) and Coordinator, SIP–2026, delivered the Welcome Address and extended greetings to the students and distinguished guests.Presenting an overview of the two-week programme, Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean Academic Affairs and Convener, SIP–2026, highlighted the range of activities and learning experiences organized for the students.
Students from different disciplines shared their experiences and reflections, expressing appreciation for the diverse activities, interactions and learning opportunities provided throughout the induction programme. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Taranvir Singh, Managing Director, TVS Filters, delivered an inspirational address on “How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur.” He encouraged the students to develop an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, embrace challenges, learn continuously and strive to create meaningful solutions through knowledge, creativity and perseverance.
Certificates were presented to the Student Volunteers, Organising Committee Members and Invited Speakers in recognition of their valuable contributions to the successful conduct of SIP–2026.The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and Chief Guest, delivered the Valedictory Address, emphasizing the importance of holistic education, discipline, innovation, ethical values and active participation in university life.
He encouraged the students to make the best use of the academic, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and extracurricular opportunities available at SMVDU and to contribute meaningfully to society.The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Pooja Sharma, Organising Secretary, SIP–2026. The event concluded with a group photograph of the dignitaries, faculty members and students, followed by refreshments.
