The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

SHOPIAN:  In a landmark initiative to foster community engagement and promote local heritage, the District Administration Shopian, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Charandeep Singh, held a high-level interactive meeting today at the Mini-Secretariat, Shopian. The meeting was convened for celebrating 'Jashn-e-Hurud', a first-of-its-kind festival planned for the district.

The comprehensive consultative interaction brought together key stakeholders, including prominent members of civil society, traders associations, youth representatives and the media fraternity.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that 'Jashn-e-Hurud' will mark a new dawn for Shopian by celebrating its unique identity, promoting local talent and bringing the community together in a festive environment. He stated that the festival is envisioned as a catalyst to spotlight Shopian’s tourism potential and support local vendors, artisans and businesses.

The District Administration assured full administrative backing for the event, emphasizing structured setups, robust media outreach and comprehensive security arrangements to make the maiden celebration a resounding success.

Deliberations focused on collaborative planning to ensure the event serves as a vibrant platform showcasing Shopian’s rich cultural ethos, scenic beauty and local enterprise. Community-driven insights and suggestions were gathered during discussions with civil society members and trade unions.
