SRINAGAR: The Police Martyrs Football Tournament-2024, organized by Kupwara Police under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme-2024, concluded successfully today at the Sports Stadium Govt Higher Secondary School Kupwara. The event witnessed an exhilarating final match between Atletico FC Kupwara and JFC Wavoora, where Atletico FC secured victory by scoring the only goal during extra time.
SSP Kupwara Shri Ghulam Jeelani-JKPS was the Chief Guest and presided over the prize distribution ceremony. Speaking on the event, SSP Kupwara said, this tournament is a heartfelt tribute to the brave police martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the safety and security of the nation. It also serves as an essential platform to engage youth in positive activities, steering them away from harmful influences like drugs and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle. The final match drew a large and enthusiastic crowd.
The winning team was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 25,000, while the runner-up team received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 15,000. Trophies, mementos, and cash prizes were distributed as a gesture of recognition and appreciation for the teams’ hard work and outstanding performance. The referees and organizers were also commended for their dedication and efforts in ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme. The event was also attended by Addl. SP Kupwara, DySP Hqrs Kupwara, DySP DAR Kupwara, and other officers of Police.
