BARAMULLA: The Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) Baramulla organized a Watershed Yatra at Wagoora to promote sustainable water conservation practices and environmental awareness. Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Wagoora-Kreeri, Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone, presided over the event, emphasizing the importance of watershed management for ecological balance and water security.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone highlighted the need for community participation in protecting natural resources. He stressed the significance of watershed management in ensuring sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and environmental protection. He urged stakeholders to take proactive measures in preserving water bodies and adopting eco-friendly practices.
The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Panchayat and other officers, along with officials, experts and local stakeholders. As part of the programme, a pledge was taken to safeguard water resources, followed by a plantation drive to reinforce the commitment to ecological restoration. Certificates were also distributed among the participants in recognition of their efforts.
