BANDIPORA: The State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) J&K in collaboration with National Institute of Social Defence on thursday organised a one day training programme on Drug De-addiction for Master Volunteers at Mini-secretariat Bandipora  under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA). The programme was aimed at equipping the volunteers with the knowledge and skills to combat drug addiction at the grassroot level.

The training programme sponsored by Ministry of Social Justice and empowerment, Govt. of India and District Administration Bandipora was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zaffar Husson Shawl and was attended by District Social Welfare Officer Sahir Majeed, Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar- Brand Ambassador Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan for Bandipora, Youth and student Volunteer and other concerned.

In his introductory address DSWO Sahir Majeed emphasized intensive awareness under Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyaan to ensure its benefits  reach every corner of the district. He urged volunteers and other stakeholders to take responsibility and contribute in making the campaign a success to combat the drug menace.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC Zaffar Husson Shawl emphasized community involvement in addressing the growing issue of substance abuse and deliberated on devastating impact of drug abuse on addicts and their families. Zaffar Husson,  emphasized the  role of NGOs and volunteers in addition to efforts of Government to combat drug abuse and also emphasized proper monitoring of vulnerable groups and intensive awareness.

The training  imparted by Programme Director, SLCA Pallavi Sing discussed  various measures aimed at equipping the volunteers with essential knowledge and skills to combat drug addiction at the grassroots level. She deliberated on prevalence of substance abuse in India besides National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction.

She also highlighted implementation strategy  and major functions under NMBA to curb drug menace besides role of DDAC, ATF and ODIC. Pallavi sing highlighted the role of master volunteers in identifying the hotspots and risk groups besides conducting awareness and capacity building programmes.

Brand Ambassador NMBA, Faisal Ali Dar also highlighted harmful impact of drug abuse on society urging everyone to take a stand against growing problem of drug menace. He urged the participants to be proactive in their efforts, stressing that a collective approach is essential for addressing this critical issue.
