JAMMU: The Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation (SGWF) continues to spread its message of environmental conservation through the 'Adopt a Tree' campaign, now reaching the regions of Chandigarh, New Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana. As part of this initiative, summer apple trees were distributed to encourage individuals to take active steps in greening their surroundings.
Dr. Sonia Verma, Director of SGWF, highlighted the organization's ongoing multi-location experimental trials for summer apple cultivation. "One of our key trials is being conducted in Pune, alongside other locations. This effort is part of our broader mission to promote sustainable horticulture across various regions," she remarked.
The summer apple tree stands out for its ability to thrive in hot climatic conditions, offering a significant advantage. Its unique value lies in its capacity to produce apples during the summer months, a time when apples are typically not available in the market. This innovative solution has the potential to change fruit availability patterns in warmer regions.
Dr. Sonia Verma further emphasized SGWF's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability, stating that the NGO's mission is not only to adopt 25,000 trees this year but also to foster a long-term impact on the ecosystem through responsible tree-planting and species diversification efforts.
The R&D Division of SGWF is working diligently to conduct experimental trials on different species, aiming to expand the adaptability and benefits of such plants across diverse regions.
In line with SGWF's unique approach to combining environmentalism with cultural values, the campaign also saw the participation of families in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative. Under this theme, families were provided with trees to honor their mothers and Mother Nature, symbolizing care and nurturing.
The distribution of summer apple trees, which are being tested for their viability in diverse climates, was made possible through the efforts of Mrs. Reeta Verma, National Director of SGWF.
