The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

ANANTNAG: In order to promote diversified farming practices to enhance livelihoods, income generation, and climate resilience, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)-Anantnag, SKUAST-Kashmir, under the TDC-NICRA project, organized an interactive session, here.  As part of the annual action plan of the TDC-NICRA project, the event focused on empowering farmers through the adoption of scientific orchard management techniques and advanced nursery development practices.

High-quality planting materials, developed at KVK-Anantnag, were distributed among progressive farmers and budding agri-entrepreneurs, covering an area of over one hectare across two adopted villages. The selected fruit plants were chosen for their potential to enhance farm income and build resilience against climate change.

During the interactive session, Dr. Ishtiyaq A. Khan and other scientists from KVK-Anantnag provided hands-on training on modern horticultural techniques. The session emphasized best practices for orchard management, nursery development, and climate-resilient agriculture. Addressing the farmers, Dr. Khan highlighted the importance of agricultural diversification in tackling climate change challenges.

He underscored how integrating modern horticultural advancements with traditional knowledge could create new opportunities for entrepreneurship and contribute to sustainable rural development. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from the farming community, with participants appreciating KVK-Anantnag’s efforts in enhancing agricultural sustainability through scientific interventions and capacity-building initiatives.
