The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

SRINAGAR: Janata Dal (United) Party President G.M. Shaheen has strongly appealed to the Railway Authority of India to immediately run special trains from Srinagar to different parts of the country for loading apple trucks, as the continuous closure of the National Highway has left thousands of fruit trucks stranded.

“The National Highway closure has left our fruit-laden trucks stranded for days, and apples are beginning to rot inside the vehicles. The closure has prevented timely transportation to both domestic and international markets, causing irreparable damage,” Shaheen said.

He stressed that apple is the backbone of Kashmir’s economy, and every day of delay means huge financial losses for growers who rely on timely access to markets. “The hard work of orchardists should not go waste due to administrative lapses. I urge the authorities to ensure smooth and uninterrupted movement of apple trucks at the earliest,” he added.

Shaheen further exhorted upon the administration to give preference to apple-laden trucks once the blockade is lifted, so that fruit consignments can reach their destinations without further loss.
