KISHTWAR: District Advisory Committee (DAC) meeting on the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act was today held under the Chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar Dr. Rajinder Kumar. The meeting focused on reviewing the Act’s implementation across the district, with detailed discussions on the registration of ultrasound centres, as well as the provisions for offences, penalties, and the overall monitoring mechanism.
CMO provided an update on the district’s eight ultrasound clinics, comprising six private centres and two government-run facilities. He also gave a detailed account of the block-wise latest Child Sex Ratio data, which stands at 968 girls per 1000 male children.
The CMO emphasized the crucial role of the PCPNDT Act in promoting a healthy girl-child sex ratio and directed strict enforcement through random inspections of ultrasound clinics. The meeting was attended by DAC members including DIO Kishtwar Dr Kuldeep Kumar, Dr Shabnam Laila, Dr. Javed Iqbal Giri other senior doctors, representatives of NGOs, owners of private ultrasound clinics and other officials.
