JAMMU: Skill Course on “Medical Laboratory Techniques” organized jointly by SIIEDC through its Skill Vertical, Institute of Human Genetics and Health Centre was today inaugurated at University of Jammu.
Prof. Alka Sharma, Director SIIEDC inaugurated the workshop and enlightened the participants about the importance of hands-on training in skill courses in the NEP 2020 curriculum that seek to emphasise experiential learning and in generation of employment for the students “The University under the dynamic vision of Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University is running many Skill Courses through SIIEDC”, she shared with the students.
Prof. Garima Gupta, Co-ordinator Skill Vertical SIIEDC apprised the participants about various courses being run by the Skill Vertical as regular feature of skill trainings in the University and the importance of these courses in making students ready to face the challenge of future job prospects. Dr. Ankit Mahajan, Course Coordinator apprised the candidates about the framework of the course and the various techniques which shall be taught in this course. It is pertinent to mention that this is the second time this skill course is being run with approximately 40 students participating from various colleges of Jammu region.
The course has been framed by the Course coordinator with the guidance of Prof. B.K Bajaj, Coordinator, Human Genetics and Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Chief Medical Officer, University of Jammu. During the course students will learn the basic biochemistry laboratory techniques including LFT, KFT, Electrolyte profiling, coagulation profile etc and DNA diagnostic tests for diagnosis of genetic diseases.
