CHANDIGARH: Hon. Dr. Soumya Ranjan Jena, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University Institute of Engineering, Chandigarh University, Mohali (Punjab), has been conferred the “Best Academician Award” at the National Educational Distinction Awards 2026. The award was presented as an official Award of Honour recognising his contributions to teaching excellence, research impact, and innovation-driven academic leadership.
The recognition reflects Dr. Jena’s sustained work in strengthening engineering education through modern pedagogy and research-centric mentoring. With more than 10 years of teaching and research experience, he has built a strong identity as an academician, author, researcher, innovator, editor, reviewer, and keynote speaker in national and international platforms.
Dr. Jena is also one of the Designated Partners of SRJX RESEARCH AND INNOVATION LAB LLP, India, which has been listed among the Global 100 – 2026 Winners in Research and Innovation as per a GPMG (UK) report. The organization is additionally associated with global networks including UNIDO and the BRICS Center for Industrial Competencies, reflecting its international visibility in innovation-driven research ecosystems.
In the domain of research and intellectual property, Dr. Jena has achieved extensive outcomes. His academic record includes 38 international-level books, around 32 international research publications, and 48 international/national patents, with 18 patents granted. His research profile also reports 555 citations with an h-index of 11 and i10-index of 14 (Google Scholar), alongside indexing across major scientific databases.
Over the years, he has received multiple national and global recognitions such as the Bharat Education Excellence Awards (Best Researcher – 2022 & 2024), AMP Awards for Educational Excellence 2024, Global Innovative Leader Award 2025, and several other honours for excellence in research and education. Academically, Dr. Jena holds an M.Tech in Information Technology from Utkal University (2013) and a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from BPUT (2010), along with professional certifications in networking and hardware.
He is currently pursuing his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering at Suresh Gyan Vihar University (SGVU), Jaipur, and has also received an Hon. (Dr.) in Artificial Intelligence from Graham International University, USA. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Edge AI, Green Computing, Sustainability, Renewable Energy Resources, Cloud & Distributed Computing, IoT, and Internet of Energy, aligning his academic work with future-ready technologies and sustainable innovation goals.
