RAIPUR: In response to AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal’s recent allegations about Parliament and other government assets being built on Waqf properties, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) member Er. Gulam Ali Khatana criticized Ajmal for misleading the Muslim community and diverting attention away from critical issues related to their empowerment.
Khatana who is on visit Study visit of the Committee Assurances in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on Friday, asserted that the Modi government’s intention behind amending the Waqf Act is to ensure that the resources benefit marginalized and backward sections of Indian Muslims.
Khatana criticized Ajmal for engaging in appeasement politics, claiming that Ajmal’s political base had shifted to Congress, leading to his loss in the Lok Sabha elections. “The Waqf Amendment Act will ensure that poor Muslims benefit, not just a select few,” Khatana said.
He further mentioned that opposition MPs, including some from the JPC, had previously boycotted committee proceedings following revelations of Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s alleged involvement in the Karnataka Waqf land scam.
“I appeal to all JPC members to fulfill their responsibilities and support the cause of the marginalized, underprivileged, and backward Muslim communities. The Modi government is committed to their upliftment, and the Waqf Amendment Act will ensure that Waqf resources are properly utilized for the betterment of these groups,” Khatana added.
