DODA: The 13th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) today conducted a comprehensive Community Awareness Programme along with a data collection drive in Thathri and Phagsoo Tehsils with the aim to strengthen disaster preparedness and building resilient communities at the grassroots level.

The programme was organized under the directions of  Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh  and under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar Thakur, reflecting the district administration’s proactive and coordinated approach towards disaster risk reduction and public safety.

During the programme, the officers and personnel of the 13th Battalion NDRF interacted with local residents and sensitized them about disaster management protocols, emergency response mechanisms, early warning systems, evacuation procedures and basic first-aid measures to be followed during floods, earthquakes, landslides and other region-specific hazards. Emphasis was laid on community preparedness, coordination, and timely response during emergencies.

Simultaneously, door-to-door data collection and vulnerability assessment were carried out to gather vital information related to population demographics, critical infrastructure, high-risk areas and locally available resources, which will support effective planning, mitigation strategies and swift disaster response.

The initiative witnessed active participation from the public and reaffirmed the shared responsibility of the administration, NDRF, and citizens in ensuring disaster resilience and community safety.
