• Stresses accuracy, justification, multi-departmental assessment

BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today chaired a meeting to review the process for the Revision of Stamp Rates for the Calendar Year 2026.  During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to submit reports strictly based on actual ground requirements, ensuring that each recommendation is supported by ample justification.

She emphasised that the process should not be hurried or approached mechanically and stressed that there must be “no jump in values without clear reasoning.” Officers were directed to keep all relevant parameters in mind including development patterns, ongoing works, and demographic changes while determining the proposed rate revisions.

On the occasion, the DC further directed that all line departments must be involved in the assessment process, and their feedback and technical inputs should form an integral part of the final proposals. She asked officers to factor in circumstances such as new projects in the area, infrastructure expansion, or impacts of natural calamities, so that the revised stamp rates reflect a fair and realistic valuation.

During the meeting, the DC directed the Sub-Divisional Committees to submit their complete reports within a week, ensuring that the assessment is thorough and based on updated field verification. The DC reiterated that accurate rate revision is essential for transparency, revenue consistency, and safeguarding public interest.
