RAMBAN: To evaluate restoration measures and assess the damage caused by recent heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in district Ramban, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, today visited Village Sana in Tehsil Batote to inspect the aftermath of a major land subsidence incident. The Deputy Commissioner was joined by Dy. SP (HQ) Om Prakash, Tehsildar Batote Dr. Reejuta Mahajan and other concerned departmental officers.
Eight houses have been affected by the landslides in the village. Acting swiftly, the District Administration evacuated 101 individuals from 15 families to safer locations. A nearby school has been designated as a lodgement centre and the affected families have been provided ration kits, tents and tarpaulins to meet their immediate needs.
DC Mohammad Alyas Khan directed Tehsildar Batote to prepare detailed relief cases for all damaged houses and submit them for providing compensation to affected families under State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) norms. He also inspected the Champa–Dhiano road and instructed the Executive Engineer, PMGSY, to ensure proper maintenance of the road and drainage systems to prevent further damage.
