KUPWARA: Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DDMRRR), in a joint effort with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kupwara, successfully conducted a day-long workshop focused on the Incident Response System (IRS). The training program which was held today at the Conference Hall of the D.C. Office Kupwara was chaired by Deputy Commissioner/ Chairman DDMA Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara (CEO DDMA), Gulzar Ahmad; ADC Handwara, Javaid Naseem Masoodi; SDM Lolab, CPO, Dy. SP SDRF Kupwara, Dy. SP NDRF Srinagar, besides, officers from Fire & Emergency Service, Civil Defence, Health, Police, PWD, Revenue, Education, Information and other departments attended the workshop.
The workshop was organised to enhance the preparedness and coordination of various stakeholders in managing and responding to disasters and emergencies. The training aimed to familiarize participants with the principles and structure of the Incident Response System, a standardized on-scene emergency management framework.
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman DDMA impressed upon the participants to take maximum benefit from the workshop about their key role in dealing with the disaster like situations. He appreciated the department for organizing the training workshop and stressed conduct of mock drills in coming days.
Snober Jameel, Deputy Secretary, DDMRRR briefed the participants about their respective roles in the Incident Response System at district, sub division and tehsil levels. Awareness about different types of natural and manmade disasters like earthquake, flood, hailstorm, landslides, avalanches, high velocity winds, snow storms, forest fires, road & industrial accidents were provided to the participants.
Expert Brig. Kuldeep Singh who is former consultant of NDMA also shared his deep insights with the participants through online mode about the implementation of IRS on ground.
Throughout the day, experts and trainers in disaster management provided comprehensive sessions on the key components of the IRS. The program emphasized practical knowledge and skills to ensure a swift, effective, and coordinated response during disaster.
