RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today conducted a comprehensive tour of Rajouri town to assess the ongoing development works and review civic amenities, with a special focus on infrastructure upgrades, cleanliness and public safety.

During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of the condition of manholes across the town. He directed the concerned departments to immediately fix and secure all damaged or open manholes to prevent mishaps and ensure public safety.

Reviewing the ongoing repair works already tendered, the DC instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) to expedite the pace of execution and adhere to the stipulated timelines. He emphasized adherence to quality standards and timely completion of the works for the convenience of the general public.

The Deputy Commissioner also took serious note of the open wiring in several areas, which poses potential safety hazards. He directed the department to prepare and submit a comprehensive proposal for underground cabling to enhance public safety and improve the aesthetics of the town.

As part of his public outreach, the Deputy Commissioner also interacted with local shopkeepers. He urged them to operate within legal and civic boundaries, maintain proper sanitation outside their establishments and use separate dustbins for wet and dry waste. He further appealed to all stakeholders to maintain cleanliness and contribute to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in spirit and action.

Among the others who accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during his visit were ACR, Mohd Jhangir Khan; Tehsildar Rajouri, Varinder Sharma; EXEN PDD Rajouri, Mohd Rashid; EO MC Rajouri, Yousif ul Mir and other concerned officers.
