Grand winter carnival commences at Sanasar

RAMBAN: The much-anticipated Winter Carnival Sanasar organised by the Directorate of Tourism Jammu in collaboration with the Patnitop Development Authority and the district administrations of Ramban and Udhampur commenced successfully today at the picturesque meadows of Sanasar. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, attracting a large number of tourists from across the country along with enthusiastic participation from local residents.

The carnival showcased the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region, providing a boost to winter tourism in the Jammu province. A festive atmosphere prevailed throughout the event, offering visitors a memorable experience. The programme featured a series of cultural performances and competitive activities. Students of UPS Chouri, Sanasar presented cultural items highlighting the talent and creativity of local youth. Renowned singers Jeevan Pahari, Rounak Thakur and Mohan Thakur entertained the audience with their performances, while the Hill View Band added to the celebrations.

Adventure activities formed a major attraction of the carnival. Events such as the Shikara Race on Sanasar Lake and the Horse Rally added an adventurous element engaging tourists and visitors. The concluding ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Chief Executive Officer, Patnitop Development Authority, Virender Kumar Manyal; Additional SP, Mujeeb-ul-Rehman; Deputy Director Tourism, Jammu, Pankaj Sasan; Dy SP Traffic, Sajad; Dy SP DAR Ramban, K.K. Sharma and Dy SP Headquarters, Waqar among other officers.

To encourage participation, the organisers distributed hampers and mementos to participants of various competitions and cultural events. The organisers expressed satisfaction over the successful conduct of the carnival and stated that such initiatives play an important role in strengthening the local economy while promoting Sanasar as a year-round tourist destination.
