BARAMULLA & PULWAMA: In a sustained drive against illegal mineral extraction, Police have seized seven vehicles found transporting illegally extracted minerals at different locations across Baramulla and Pulwama.
In Baramulla, during the operation, one dumper and two tippers loaded with illegally extracted sand were intercepted and seized. In a separate action at Chakloo, police also seized one tractor involved in the illegal transportation of sand.
All seizures were made strictly under the provisions of the MMDR Act. Further, in a joint raid conducted by the Department of Geology & Mining and Police Post Wagoora, one JCB machine involved in illegal soil extraction at Wagila was seized. Necessary legal action under the MMDR Act has been initiated.
In Pulwama, Police carried out a swift operation at Gund Achan Nallah, Rambiara, acting on a tip-off about unlawful extraction activities. During surveillance, one tractor and one JCB were found engaged in illegal mining both were immediately seized and machinery confiscated. Accordingly, FIR No. 109/2025 has been registered at Police Station Litter under Section 303(2) & (3) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
Police remains committed to curbing illegal mining and protecting natural resources. Strict action will continue against violators, and the public is urged to follow lawful practices.
