Er. Dil Bahadur Singh, Convenor, J&K BJP Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and Er. T.K. Sharma, Co-Convenor, said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a transformational change in cleanliness and public hygiene across the region, as the 99.31 percent villages of Jammu & Kashmir have been declared ODF Plus Model, reflecting the major success of Swachh Bharat Mission initiated on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As per data released by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, out of a total 6,216 villages in J&K, 6,173 villages have attained the ODF Plus Model status. This remarkable feat highlights the strong commitment to cleanliness, sanitation infrastructure, and behavioural change, driven by the clear policy direction and sustained support of the Modi-led BJP government at the Centre.
Er. Dil Bahadur Singh, while addressing the media, said that this achievement is a direct outcome of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, which has placed sanitation at the core of nation-building. He stated that BJP’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, through continuous awareness drives, mass contact programmes, and grassroots mobilisation over the past two years, played a crucial role in involving citizens, sanitation workers, and municipal bodies in achieving this goal.
He added that the focused and disciplined approach has resulted in Jammu & Kashmir’s Swachhata ranking improving dramatically to 42nd position in 2024–25, from a dismal 248th rank in 2023–24, as per the Swachh Survekshan report of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.
Er. T.K. Sharma, in his statement, said that this sharp improvement is a testimony to the effectiveness of BJP-led initiatives and people-centric governance under PM Modi. He highlighted that Jammu city being declared the cleanest city in J&K and securing a 3-Star Garbage Free City rating further reinforces the success of structured waste management and public participation. He lauded the proactive role played by Jammu Municipal Corporation and Srinagar Municipal Corporation, sanitation workers, and volunteers associated with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Both leaders termed this achievement as a matter of immense pride for the people of Jammu & Kashmir and extended heartfelt congratulations to the citizens, sanitation workforce, and municipal bodies. They asserted that this milestone lays a strong and sustainable foundation for a Clean, Healthy and Developed J&K, firmly aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a Swachh and Sashakt Bharat.
